Being trans or gender diverse is not a mental illness. But people who are gender questioning, transgender or gender diverse often experience distress and mental illness due to their experiences in life.

Seeing a clinical psychologist for a WPATH (World Professional Association for Transgender Health) assessment has several benefits, including:

Comprehensive Evaluation: Deb is a clinical psychologist. Clinical psychologists are trained in mental health assessment and can provide a thorough evaluation of gender dysphoria, mental health and wellbeing, and readiness for medical or social transition steps.

Alignment with WPATH Standards of Care: Working with Deb ensures you are working with a psychologistfamiliar with WPATH guidelines to ensure that any requested assessments meet the necessary criteria for gender-affirming medical interventions (e.g., HRT, surgeries), increasing the likelihood of approval from medical providers.

Mental Health Support: The assessment process includes screening for coexisting mental health conditions (e.g., anxiety, depression, PTSD) and provides recommendations for care, ensuring that transition decisions are made in an informed and supportive way. Deb provides appointments either face to face at her office in Watsonia, or via telehealth (video).

Advocacy & Documentation: Where requested Deb can provide letters of support needed for medical treatments, legal gender marker changes, and other transition-related services, advocating for patients within the healthcare, employment and educational systems.

Reduced Barriers to Care:

By offering a structured and professional evaluation, Deb help streamline access to gender-affirming care, ensuring that individuals receive the referrals and support they need in a timely manner.

Personalised Guidance: Each person’s gender journey is unique. Deb will provide you with individualised support, recommendations, resources, and coping strategies tailored to your specific needs, goals, and circumstances.
